Ryan Duff is originally from Columbia City, Indiana. He holds a B.S. in Choral Music Education from Ball State University (2001).
Since college graduation, he has worked professionally as a singer, actor, and musician in various theme park venues nationally. Ryan worked as a Lead Production Singer with Holland America Cruise Lines for 3 years, performing in dozens of production shows internationally. He has worked in many Regional Theatre Productions as a cast member, singer, pit musician and Musical Director. In addition, he has played the principal role of Joey Vitale in “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” at the Rio Hotel & Casino, performed as a singing gondolier at the Venetian Hotel and has performed as a featured singer in many other Las Vegas & Nevada venues including Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, Caesar’s Palace and The Paris Hotel, starring in the “Can Can Cabaret.”
Currently, Ryan is in his eighth year with the Clark County School District and his fifth as the Choir Director at Basic High School in Henderson, Nevada, where he directs 6 choirs. In addition to his choral teaching responsibilities, he serves as the IB Arts Instructional Coach and Department Chair for the Basic High School Visual & Performing Arts Departments. He serves as the Musical Director of all Basic High School Musical Productions which have thus far included Seussical, Cinderella, 9 to 5: The Musical & Annie.
Mr. Duff’s choirs consistently receive Superior Ratings at choral festivals in Nevada and California. Each year, many of his students receive Superior & Excellent Ratings at the NMEA Solo & Ensemble District and Regional Festivals. The Basic High School Chamber Singers, the premier choral ensemble at Basic High School, are highly sought-after to perform throughout the Henderson community and on campus. In October 2014, the BHS Chamber Singers were selected to sing at the Nevada ACDA Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Duff is a proud member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the Nevada Music Educators Association (NMEA) and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). He has served as the Co-Chair for the Clark County School District High School Honor Choir since 2011 and this fall, he will begin his tenure as the Chairperson. He serves as Co-Chairperson of the CCSD Advanced Choral Festival, as well as the Chairman and Site-Host of the Basic High School Intermediate Choral Festival. In 2013, he served as the Chairman of the 2013 Nevada All-State Choir. For several years, Ryan has served as a choral clinician & adjudicator for the CCSD Middle School Honor Choir Auditions & the CCSD Middle School Advanced Choral Festival. In March of 2012, Ryan was named NMEA’s “New Music Educator of the Year.”
Ryan Duff is the Chorus Director for the Las Vegas Men’s Chorus, a community chorus of men dedicated to sharing music with the Las Vegas Community. The chorus performs 3 concerts a year, as well as in various community appearances. In July 2016, the LVMC have been invited to perform at the 2016 GALA Choral Festival in Denver, Colorado. Ryan resides in Las Vegas, Nevada with his partner of 9 years, Justin, a professional ballroom dancer and teacher. duf
